I was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania in a little town outside of the Pittsburgh area. After attending business college, I worked for several Fortune 500 companies until the late 70's. The legal profession always interested me and I was fortunate enough to work with a small firm in Pennsylvania for 8 years. Always seeking a challenge, I moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1987, where I continued the legal profession as a paralegal which lasted until 2001, leaving me with 29 years of legal experience.
Prior to my leaving, I made my first visit to Ashe County in May of 1995. My love for the area led me to revisit again during my favorite time of the year, Fall of 1995. I purchased riverfront property along the North Fork of the New River and had a log style home built. I knew my dream was not complete having to travel back and forth to Florida.
However, always looking ahead to my future, I founded an internet business in downtown West Jefferson in early 1998. In 2001, I fulfilled my dream and moved to Ashe County, as a full-time resident, giving up my legal career. In mid-2006, my company was acquired by a telecommunication's company out of Charlotte.
Having sold my first log home in 2005, this allowed me and my fiance, Jim Mislang, to complete our log home in 2006 here in magnificent Ashe County. Jim owns a sales and marketing company in the floral industry.
Needing a new challenge, I decided to pursue a career in real estate in 2005, enabling me to share my knowledge of Ashe, including Wilkes, and Alleghany Counties, with the many people that visit our area year round. I am also a licensed broker in Virginia—Ashe County is only 15 minutes from the Virginia border—with surrounding counties that include, Grayson, Patrick, McDowell, and Carroll.
Jim and I have also had the opportunity to build several other log homes which were placed on the market for sale. These experiences have helped me understand the construction process.
As I have a love for both home design and decorating, I feel nothing but enthusiasm with every customer I work with. My goal is to treat every customer's search for their dream home as if it were my own. When asked what setting I love the best, my response is that I love it all. No matter what setting you choose, you are surrounded every day by the beauty of the river, valleys, mountains, streams and forests.
I never dreamed that one day I would become an owner of a real estate firm. Jim and I became the proud owners of HIGH COUNTRY REALTY OF NORTH CAROLINA, and have been blessed with an "exceptional" team of agents we consider family. We are truly proud of and confident in our TEAM.
